F3 GAUGES - ODOMETER
Hello everyone -
I have a question: This is odd and not your usual need.
I replaced my motor in my 97 F3 - as well, had cracked gauges and bought the gauges with the engine that had the motors miles. This was some time ago. I have moved since, left the bike behind before registering it. Lost my paperwork on the motor, and need to register the bike. My bike had 11,xxx miles on it. the engine and gauges show 6,xxx miles. The DMV told me they wont issue registration and title if the miles dont match the original title from sale with the 11,xxx miles, or the documentation of the engine and gauge swap (reciepts and such) can be shown. Basically - the quick fix seems to me that I would either buy another set of gauges that has similar miles, or take apart my existing gauges and roll them UP to the right miles. Cost wise - I want to change the miles on my existing gauges.
Does anyone know if this can be done - and if it is easy for me to do myself? Is it illegal?
Any info would be awesome!!! Thanks~

The only way they would know is if the dude that does your inspection won't hear you out.
Tell him what the deal is and see if he'll write it up that way. Take your other guages with you so he knows you're not blowing smoke and see what happens.
If you've already had it inspected... spend the $12 and get it inspected again doing what I suggested. Still much cheaper and less time consuming than swapping them back out for the inspection.

Tossed the busted gear long ago...
And honestly - VT State police... Are the least of anyone understanding.
Kinda stuck here with the need to find alternative approches. Think... think.... think....
Thanks though KidC~
