Did the gauge swap on my 98 F3 using the guidelines on this forum.
The suggested 900rr temp sensor I bought for use in the F3 to F4i gauge swap is not working at all.
Bought it brand new (part number THERMO UNIT 37750-KV3-951)...easy install, but I only get 2 dashes in the temp indicator.
The original F3 sensor gave a flashing 270 deg in the 2004 F4i gauge cluster.
I have rechecked all wiring...all good.
I have spent 3 days working on this....wondering now if the unit I bought is defective.
Please help!
Did you let the bike warm up? Mine stays dashes until it reaches a certain temp then starts displaying. I cant remember the exact temp it starts and my bike is away at the shop so I cant help much with the range right now
Did not know that...never had the donor bike running.
All this time I thought I had received a bad temp sending unit.
I built my Mid Engined Trike with a 98 F3 engine and left this temp gauge swap-issue as my last fix.
I have spent way too long tearing my wiring harness apart looking for issues.
I have added a pic of engine bay and full size.
again, thank you.
That's a nice project!! I can't be too sure that's the issue, I am new to motorcycles for about a year. I bought my f3 with the guages already installed and I know that's how mine acts maybe another member could confirm.
Interesting, I have spent 2 hours searching the internet for info on how the gauges work.
I found the service manual and owners manual online, neither of them discuss the operation of the temp gauge.
Maybe someone here will fill us both in.
