Bought some new boots for my f3 off ebay. When I get them on the band screw isnt long enough to reach the square nut. Should I just get longer screws? Also, when I slip them on with the "carb top" side against the carb they kinda flare out at the bottom. Could they be made backwards? Pictures of them sitting both ways
This side should be against the carb but flares out and the open hole is smaller than the opposite side Flared out Installed opposite of what its supposed be. Not flared out
Pretty sure these are not the correct ones for your carbs. The screw length is the 1st indicator. There should be ample slack in the screw. Also the bulge your picture shows is incorrect as to fitting. There should be zero bulge. New boots should be snug but require no excessive force to install.

You're right. I figured it out as well. These are mv9 for a f2. Mal is for the f3. Wrong insulator boots

Sorry I'm bringing this back from the dead but did you ever find new replacements that fit? Seems all of these eBay boots that I'm seeing are MV9 in their picture or their dimensions are smaller than the factory MAL boots. And their descriptions says fits both F2 and F3 - wrong
