Carb boot installation help
I run 600 micro sprint cars and have been using the R6 engine, but switcing the car to a F3 engine for next year to run in a different class.
I have a stock 96 F3 that I am installing Keihen carbs set up for alcohol (supposedly stock Honda carbs that have been converted for alcohol). The boots are impossible to get to slide over the the fittings on the block and carb.
The carb fittings are 1.730"
The block fittings are 1.650"
The boot side that says "carb up" which, I assume should mate to the carb, measures 1.550" and the other side measures 1.630".
The boots are a little stiff and I understand it should take some pressure to get the boots to slip on, but I have used a fairly extreme amount of force and cannot get the even to start over the fitting. I tried softening the boots with some WD40 which made them more pliable, but not enough.
I need your help!

what i did was put them in a pot of water on the stove so that they were fully submerged, and put the temp high enough where its un-comfortable if you stick your finger in the water, but not boiling. i grabbed a beer and i let them sit for about 5 minutes. then i took them out, and worked them with my hands, trying to work the molecules around and get it stretchy as possible. then i took some motor oil and put some on my finger and rubbed around the inside of the boot. then i opened another beer and worked them on the carbs first, then slid the whole carb assembly with the boots on onto the motor itself and worked it side to side. went alot smoother than the first time i ever tried putting a set on.

^^ LOL. Yes, beer helps pass the time when watching a pot boil.
One reason for the carb boots being a pill to get on would be because they are old. The rubber has probably lost it's elasticity.
I replaced mine last summer and it was a royal pain to get them off. I had to actually cut a few of them off the intake manifold. The new ones slipped right on with just a touch of engine oil.

Where would be good online source with the best prices?

Try RonAyers.com or Service Honda. They have some of the best prices out there. Shipping may be less from Ron Ayers, Service Honda is a $9 minimum shipping. You'd need 4 of them naturally.
