Default exhaust dilemma

hi all,
just recently acquired a 97 f3
and it came with standard exhausted .. those big black basookas. te sounded great though, bit on the quite side but sounded punchy with compression , I then grabbed my old arrow exhausted , painted it made it look better and swapped the stock exhaust ang bolted down the arrow .. stared the bike and it lost all its punch , sounded tired and louder.
is there a measurement to consider when changing the exhaust and still maintain the original specs. what sort of aftermarket ehaust have many of you f3 riders found fitting ?
any help appreciated
cheers
c.c.

Sounds like you need to re-jet your carbs.

+1 on what Demon said. Your carbs are tuned to the stock exhaust. If you change your exhaust, you have to set up your carbs accordingly.
