Default New bike dilemma...

Well, its time, I believe to finally part ways with my beloved 600rr and move up the hp scale a bit (hey my fatass weighs 275 and 105 hp isn't really cutting it anymore). Unfortunately, I seem to have a dilemma. I want more power down low so I don't have to dance on the shifter all of the time, but I enjoy the small size and flickable nature of my 600. That pretty much rules out all of the liter bikes as they are all substantially bulkier than my rr and I don't really need 175 hp for street riding anyway. That leaves what, to me, is still the perfect sportbike engine size: The 750. There's just one problem. Only Suzuki still makes a serious 750 sportbike these days. What happened to all of the great 750's of the past??? The YZF-R7, the FZR750, the VFR750, the ZX-7RR (that's Yamaha, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki for all the noobs btw). These were great bikes that were the perfect size but now they are all gone. My mind is pretty well made up, I want a 750 so the GSX-R is my only choice. I have always disliked Suzukis and have been tossing and turning in bed at night at the prospect of buying one (will I have to start rooting for Mat Mladin in AMA superbike races now?). At any rate, what have you guys heard about the Gixxer 750? I'm sure I'll get a lot of "Terrible bike, just say no!" responses but seriously, are they all that bad? I checked out the '07 today in gunmetal grey and it looked and felt pretty good actually. Anyway, discuss....

Ive got a better idea...drop 20 lbs... and keep the RR..it will be a healthier choice in the long run and besides it isnt goin to cost you 10k to get in shape..this way u wont have to pull for Mladin..its still Miggy and Jake..choice is your bro...i like the Gixxer 750 but i LOVE my RR...

I happen to think the 750 gixxer is BEAUTIFUL, and I really don't care if I get *flamed* for that statement. This is a forum, and you asked. I like that bike.

I have a friend who has a 750 gixxer '06 . Now as much as I hate squidzuki's, I must say that its quite beautifull and pulls like a beast. I have never ridden one but my buddy is pretty happy and he smokes the odd 2003-04 R1's on top speed and pull...

Whatever floats your boat man. Losing some weight and keeping the RR is a great idea, but if you're all for the 750 there's no shame in that either.
