Default dated look

i must say my f3 does look a bit dated. especially the front headlight. i was wondering if anyone has come across any more modern looking aftermarket fairings/lights that suit the bike well.
post URLs or pics

Thanks,
~Kevin

Hey Welcome to the forum! There are many different styles the "fit" the F3, However there is little that is just a simple bolt on look. I have heard of people swapping to the F4, F4i and 600rr tails, headlights and gauges. You are really limited by your imagination and how much modding you wish to do! Over in the Street fighter section, is a lot of info on fitting parts from other bikes and having it look good.

Welcome as well!

I Agree. There is not really anything out there that is a direct bolt on to update the look and feel of the bike. But, if you have a bit of handy-ness and some basic tools + some patience, you can transform the bike quite literally.

Some of the more extreme cosmetic updates ive seen are mod's made by other F3 owers to make a YZF-R1 clone (front upper fairing and headlight fiberglassed onto F3 side fairings as well as rear tail).

Depending on how much you want to cut and fab, you can do just about anything.

Sometimes, a simple paint job may do the trick too.

Good luck!

there are several threads on here from guys who have done some serious work on the F3; just do some searching for custom in that section for some good inspiration.

the F4i swap is not a problem really, there is only two things you really need to do to make it work:

1. front upper stay adapter (the f4i's stay wont mount to the f3)
2. some side "L" brackets to hold the side plastic to an engine mount bolt

After that, its just some positioning to get it all lined up right. You'll need new side mirrors unless you find adapters too.

I'm still looking for some nice modern looking LED side mirrors.

thank you all so much for your input. i am really liking the f4i look. i like the how-to article, just wish i knew how to get the rear fairings to work. but winter is 3 months long, so i will have plenty of time to getit correct. maybe integrate front blinkers into the side mirrors or think up something else creative

they make the LED intragrated turn signal mirrors, i have them on my bike. In the link i posted for you i beleive he had opt'ed for the newer style 600RR tail that requires a bit of fab work. I dont think i will go that route on mine and ill stick with the F4I tail i like the looks of it anyway.

Let us know how stuff is turning out on the mods !

ambeos, where did you get your fairings? the real honda ones are expensive but you can get aftermarket cheap. is it one of those "you get what you pay for" ordeals?
