Cylinder not firing
#12
Small update:
It went for an MOT retest today as it failed on the reg plate, after getting a new plate it has passed. The mechanic said a simple compression test can be done by listening to the engine turn over without fuel, so he ran it with the fuel off until it cut out, turned the bike over with the starter and said it was making a nice constant sound, no drops or anything and said his opinion is that the carbs need a clean, does this sound right?

Hi Everyone,
Finally got an update, compression tested fine. It was the carbs. I tried to clean them myself, but failed at getting them off. Just couldn't get to the last 2 screws. So I took it to a local garage and they did them. Bike is now running as sweet as a nut. I also passed my test on Weds 21st Nov, so I've been riding around between the rain
I must say a big thank you to everyone for your help. Great forum. I'll definately be sticking around
