Default Clutch question

I picked up a 97 recently that has been sitting in a friends living room for about 2.5 years. He drained the oil at some point and doesn't remember when. What are the chances the clutch will be in working condition?

I was at a local cycle gear and the guy said it'd be brittle and to replace it, but I'm not sure if he was trying to make a sale or being honest. Opinions?

I think I'd go with what I had first. Clean carbs, flush fluids, charge her up and go for it. If the clutch gives you problems, then deal with it then.

+1. Clutch is one of those things you don't fix if it ain't broke. Throw the oil in, let it sit for maybe a day to "soak in," and be cautious while testing it out.

what are you guys thoughts on pulling the clutch and letting it soak in oil for a day before getting it all back together? good idea or waste of time?
