Default Choke spring (specifically the SE arm spring)

I need to know how that thing goes in there, my manual says on carb two, but that's it, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

This should show you how it's supposed to go. Disregard how dirty the carbs are, I can assure you that they don't look that way now. This was a before picture.

What's really depressing about dirts carbs is that his "dirty" ones are my clean ones.

thanks, I had to take a really good look at it and see what was different, finally figured it out and got it back on. They aren't complicated, but there's a lot of stuff that has to be just right. I'm going to the shop today to put together an easy access synch system today and pick up a band clamp, so hopefully I'll have the things together in a week or so. What I'm wondering is does the length of the tube affect how much vacuum the gauge "sees"? Like if carb one's hose is 1 foot, and carb 2s hose is two feet, will that affect the vacuum enough that I wouldn't be able to calibrate it properly?

I think that it would effect the responsiveness of the sync gauge. If your engine is running at 1200 RPM, half of them are intake cycles, so 600 per minute. Divide that by 60 seconds and you get 10 intake vacuum pusles per second. Divide that by 4 cylinders and you get 2.5 intake vacuum pulses per second. The hose that you attach has to be able to transfer that fluctuation in vacuum to the gauge. I think that how long the hose is will affect how stable one gauge is compared to the other. One might be jumping wildly and the other only moving slightly.

To be safe, I'd make them the same length. Vacuum hose is pennys a foot. No need to be frugle there.

1200 rpms = 600 intakes per minute, divided by 60 seconds = 10 per second per cylinder.

4 cyl engine = one intake per half RPM. (2 revs for 1 intake for 1 cylinder. every 2 rpms each cylinder intakes once. being 4 cylinders, one cylinder intakes every half rpm. at one rpm, 2 cylinders have intaked.)

10 per second per cylinder at 1200 rpms = 40 intakes per sec for the engine. (all 4 cylinders combined)

lol, it's not frugality, more of a space concern, otherwise carbs one and two will have hoses wrapped in circles, doesn't look neat. I'm wondering I can't tell from the pic, is the square hook on the se arm, or is the round hook on the se arm?

OK, I stand corrected again... thanks intiractive. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...

As for the spring, IDK. I'll check tonight, but I don't think it really matters. I would think the square one is on the carb body. I guess we'll see.
