choke help
got a 96 f3 and the choke has worked fine since ive had it, but the problem started maybe a day or 2 ago... i full choke it, try n start it and it turns over for maybe a second and dies. so i give it a little gas and that starts it up fine, but with the choke still at full it idles at like 500 rpm and dies, when it used to be like 3k+. so basically i used to start it up fine with the choke and let it warm up by itself, but now its come to me not even using choke and giving it gas for a couple mins to warm it up. any thoughts?
The end of thechoke cable sheething or housing is held in place by a single screw clamp thats attached to the carburetors. If the clamp came loose, the choke would not engage very well if at all. To get to that clamp you need to take the tank off, and the air cleaner housing. Disregard the red circle. My finger is touching the choke cable clamp.
or in front of the carbs there is two screws and springs that hold the choke braket in place mine was just really dirty and the screws got tighten or jamed up i took them off cleand so the whole bracket and choke system will work and put back together works just fine now.
The tank is easy to take off, just 2 bolts. There are 3 hoses that need to be disconnected. All are near the rear of the tank. 2 are just vent hoses, the other is attached to the fuel petcock. I would have a couple of short 2x4s around that you can set the tank on. If you set it directly on the ground, you will put weight on the petcock and possibly damage it. Once that is off, then a hand full of screws that remove the air cleaner cover and a few more to remove the air cleaner base. Once the base is off, you'll see the carburetors, throttle cable, and choke cable.
Well I took my tank off the other day to replaced my airfilter. I only had to hoses. The big one for the valve and the smallest one. What is the middle size one fore? I looked around bike bike and couldnt fine it so I guessed I didnt need it.
