Default CCT spring tension question...

Hey guys
The other day my bike started having some of the symptoms idodirt describes in the "how to replace your cct": a rattling noise on the righthand side of the engine.
Now, i SUSPECT its the cct, but im not entirely certain, as it could just as well be the cam chain thats worn out, so my question is:
How much pressure is the cct supposed to deliver?

As it is now, I can easily hold in the spring after releasing the tension, I just figured that if it's not supposed to be more powerful than that, I can rule that out.
Just want to try and avoid opening up the engine without knowing if I really need to

What you think?

Whats the milage on your bike mate?
Them Cam Chains last forever.
The problem is not that the spring is not strong enough but what happens is the tensioner does not hold a steady tension due to wear...
Just get a manual CCT and you'll be sorted.

Does your tensioner fall apart like mine did? I had to wiggle it some, but the small pieces keeping it in finally gave up..

She's run about 40.000km, I think, if I install a new tensioner it'll be an OEM one, cant be bothered driving around wondering if I set the APE right...
If you think the chain cant be worn down already, it must be the tensioner, will save me a lot of time and money I talked to the repairshop-guy and he ballparked a complete change of chain, sprockets and cct to around 1200$...

I agree with land-warrior, it's the cct. I've got over 70,000 miles on my F3 and have yet to replace the cam chain. However, I am on my 2nd cct. A lot of people swear by the APE cct, but I still like the OEM cct because it's a install/set it and forget it till you start hearing noise again.

Well, i have a Manual CCT and i only have to give it a check once a year and its no bother.
But if you want to get an OEM one it'll do the job fine as well.
They are known to go bad after 20-30kmls so i wouldnt be too worried.
Just replace it and away you go.
The Cam Chain will outlast you bike anyway.

the APE is personally one of the best things you can do to your F3.
One of the best 45-50.00 modds out there.
