Hey guys
The other day my bike started having some of the symptoms idodirt describes in the "how to replace your cct": a rattling noise on the righthand side of the engine.
Now, i SUSPECT its the cct, but im not entirely certain, as it could just as well be the cam chain thats worn out, so my question is:
How much pressure is the cct supposed to deliver?
As it is now, I can easily hold in the spring after releasing the tension, I just figured that if it's not supposed to be more powerful than that, I can rule that out.
Just want to try and avoid opening up the engine without knowing if I really need to![Wink](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

If you think the chain cant be worn down already, it must be the tensioner, will save me a lot of time and money

No mate, its intact, winding of the spring works and all.

I agree with land-warrior, it's the cct. I've got over 70,000 miles on my F3 and have yet to replace the cam chain. However, I am on my 2nd cct. A lot of people swear by the APE cct, but I still like the OEM cct because it's a install/set it and forget it till you start hearing noise again.

She's run about 40.000km, I think, if I install a new tensioner it'll be an OEM one, cant be bothered driving around wondering if I set the APE right... ![Wink](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I talked to the repairshop-guy and he ballparked a complete change of chain, sprockets and cct to around 1200$...

But if you want to get an OEM one it'll do the job fine as well.
They are known to go bad after 20-30kmls so i wouldnt be too worried.
Just replace it and away you go.
The Cam Chain will outlast you bike anyway.
