Default CBR600F3 battery

Hi, my name's Paul
I'm new to this forum but I recently bought a 1996 CBR600F3. I'm trying to get to the battery leads. I have the battery box exposed (sides plastics and seat have been removed) but it says on the top of the battery box that if i open it the battery can be permanently damaged. Is it safe to removed the top cover of the box to get to the positive and negative terminals?

there shouldnt be an issue with taking it off, as long as you dont short the battery no damage would be done

Welcome!
The lid is to keep out any foreign materials you don't want to deplete the life of the battery and to just keep it out of the elements as much as possible.
Be sure to put it back on and your good to go!

Unfortunately that is the only way, You will need to do one more step to remove it, there are two more bolts to take out on either side of that black box holding the battery in. the right one is also connected to the rear brake reservoir so be careful not to damage that.

As you said you need to remove those fairings and seat, I'd look on youtube and type "F3 seat release" that guy made a great seat release for our bikes. If you can get to those two side bolts holding the battery box you will get away with not having to take off the fairings.
