Default Cbr Paint help

I was thinking of painting of my bike but all of the shops I have been to have qouted me ridicoulous numbers. My bike does have some scrapes and my tank is dented thanks to the previous idiot that had it before me. Am I a fool if I want to do it myself? are there any members that have done their own paint jobs? any tips or sugguestions would be appreciated

Ive painted cars before in my garage. I wish that I had pictures but I didnt think to snap any. Its not that hard to do if you know what youre doing.

Number one rule is prep, number two rule is prep, number three rule is prep. Prep work will make or break your paint job. Ive seen rattle can jobs that look like pro jobs, and Ive seen pro jobs that look like crap.

Here's a pretty good how-to on making a "shadetree" paintjob look like you shot it with a spray gun.

Personally I love the looks of a white bike. You thinking a straight up white, or like a pearl white?

Ive also seen flat white, and that looks amazing also.

Do what I have been doing since I sold all of my equipment, go down to the local vocational training school and have the kids hook it up. I take mine to where I learned from the teacher is great and I have sent maybe 2 vehicles a year down there (mine and just other peoples). Its not a show worthy paint job but just as good or better then factory. Since the teacher such a D!<k the kids have to earn every last grade they get and works hard to do it. Only thing is it takes a lil longer because of school hours and holidays. But all I had to do was pay 199 for my paint and stuff (which I picked up myself) and give the school a $25 dollar shop fee, but I always buy the kids some pizza upon pick up.
