Default Carrying an extra helmet

Hey everyone, I've been lurking around here for a month or so since i got my bike and have found it to be the best resource I've come across so far! That being said, I'm counting on you guys to help me out here.. I live in Vegas and am making the drive from here to Los Angeles (~350 miles) about once a month... I finally got an extra helmet and want to take it down there so that i can take a few of my friends (read: females) on rides.. I have a 96 f3 and know that the helmet lock is on the left passenger peg. I've tried to hook it up there, but it kinda swings and hits the tire and i'm pretty sure that's a bad thing.. any other ways that i am missing here or somethign? I'm getting the trunk kit and, if i remember correctly, it said it has the traditional hook in there, but thats not till the end of the month and I'd like to take it with me when i leave tomorrow. Thanks guys and keep up the good work on here!!

-Josh

Thanks for the quick responses guys! I have a net and have used it for that, but I usually have to take a bag and a backpack with clothes/laptop/shoes/etc.. and if i have the helmet sitting there, I dont have anywhere to put the bag. I was thinking that if there was somewher that i could hang the helmet, I could have my cake and eat it too.... Thanks tho

Get yourself a rack & bag, I have a Ventura rack fitted, comes off easy when you don't need it, plus you can get several types pieces to fit when not in use so it can look trick. Even their smallest bag has enough space for a full size helmet, plus enough room for wet weather gear etc (plus if you use the helmet itself to store stuff you get even more). They have a system that if you get two bags, they zip together for even more space, when you don't use the other, it fits inside the other bag. If you only have one bag then you mount it via the rack so it rests on the seat and you can then use the rack to carry stuff (like a carton of beer). Two small clips to secure it & take it off. Their a New Zealand company, but I'm sure they have distributers in the US of A. Had them on heaps of bikes & can't recommend them highly enough. www.ventura-bike.com/
