Default carbs leaking.......

my carbs are leaking fuel at both of the swivel connectors that connect the fuel lines to the carbs. Im guessing there are 0-rings in the carbs that seal the connectors. Do these carbs have the habit of leaking after they dry out?? they have been off the bike since the middle of last year. or am i just going to need new o-rings?? thanks, Allen

Those fittings sometimes crack too...there is an oring....but all those parts area available. ronayers.com, oemcycle.com, bikebandit.com ... this list goes on...they all have microfiche to view.

if you split the carb rack apart, carefull with the springs linking the buttefly valves....you don't want them shooting out and disappearing.

All that said a used rack of stock F3 carbs is worth about $50 on ebay.

i used a hand torch to heat the carbs up around the orings.... im guessing that softened them up or something because they stopped leaking.

haha yeah.... the whole torch to the leaking carb thing probably wasnt a good idea, but at the time i was so fed up with the bike that if wouldve caught on fire i would have just pushed outside and grabbed a pack of hotdogs.... thats how much of a sh** i gave then.

i made sure they were dry, i blew plenty of compressed air on them to evaporate any gas. however just as a disclaimer, i do not reccomend you try this on your own bike... i do not accept responsiblity for any property damage or bodily injury caused by trying to heat your o-rings.
