Cannot figure this problem out?? pleaase help
With the bike running at idle you should have around 13.0 - 13.5 volts across the battery using a volt meter.
Any more than 14 or less than 12 volts means your Voltage Regulator / rectifier is toast.
The VR/R can surge voltage when it's dying and cause the gauges to jump around or produce no voltage and make the bike run off the battery and eventually stop running when the battery is drained of power.
To test the fuel pump simply connect a hose to the output side of the pump and have the hose dump into a can or cup.
Turn the key to the run position and hit the starter button several times.
The fuel pump will pump fuel each time you hit the starter button.
If the pump does not work you could have a bad pump sending unit, so the pump might not be dead and the sending unit has died. Sending unit is $50.00 Pump is about $125.00.
You can run the F3 without the pump, simply run a hose from the petcock to the fuel filter and let gravity fill the carb bowls, it might not run the best at full throttle but it will get you home if the fuel pump dies when your out on the road away from home...
Best of luck !
