I've got a 96 F3 with K&N air filter and Vance Hines slip on. The bike has developed what I think is a lean surge above 5k rpm. This holds even with the stock air filter back in. I've tried shimming the needles, but I'm thinking I didn't shim them enough (smallest thinnest washers I could find).

I'm guessing the dynojet kit is the answer now, is it ok or possible to find a used jet kit on a junk yard bike and simply transfer it to my bike? Just curious if I need the full kit or if its just a matter of switching out the jets and needles. Trying to be cheap because I've put the bike up for sale...
