bike sputtering under accel at about 4000 rpm?
it just started to do this after a long ride the other day
i beat on the bike just before i got home and then noticed it was doing this.
i rode it again and it just seemed to get worse and after its warm it sounds like its down a cylinder when idling
it seems to be intermitant as well...sometimes i get on it and its fine and others its like a dog
i checked the 2 outer plugs (i can get to those with the fairings still on) and they look great
you juys have any ideas...i ordered new spark plugs but does not look like i need them
thanks

hey guys i took the bike apart to check some more stuff out and i think i founf the problem...the fuel pump really is not running it like pulses and it just all out stoped when i tested the bike out just now
anyone know it the f4 fuel pump is the same as the f3 fuel pump...they look identical

turns out its not the fuel pump...i ran it direct and it kept on running no problem which leads me to the ignition control module...i heard the fuel pump wont run unless the ignition is working properly and it seems to be the case
the bike is cutting out very bad now and im going to check all the wiring to make sure that it is the module

Yeh, I have the same problem, or something like it. Bike works great when working from cold, flawless power delivery, but after a while it gets worse, starting with sputtering/burbling from 3000-5000 revs. After a while keeping it revved above 5000 is the only answer (it wouldrarely die, but would come close).
I thought it was due to a service needing to be done, so i did a service, but the problem is still there (although now it almost wheelies at full throttle in first - must service more often!) Plugs 1 and 2 were black & wet, 3 and 4 were perfect.
I have heard that the ignition leads can go, as the carbon liningbreaks down? When the leads are warm, the problem is worse (perhaps explaining why it is ok when I first get on the bike) Perhaps the leads to plugs 1 & 2 are failing, causing no spark on them, leading to black and wet residue?
If anybody else has cured their stutteringby replacing the leads, were your symptoms similar to ours?
The other issue is how to replace the leads, Honda leads and caps have a certain impedence and moulded spark plug connectors, does anyone know what i need to be buying exactly?
