Bike dies in 2nd gear
I just put together a '98 F3..... i got it started and i am having a crazy time figuring out what is going on..... the bike will run alright in 1st. gear..then it it second and you can run through 2nd if you go easy but if you try to floor it it just starts to starve..... the bike jerks and pulses this is the same for all of the gears... .a friend was going to come out and try and sync and tune the carbs but im impatient and he wont be here for a week or two..... my guess was the fuel pump but it seems to be pulsating just fine... are there any easy adjustments i can make to test anything or try anything.... the bike has a new air cleaner and i am running it without the three secondary filters/air vent control solenoid.... is that not good? I couldnt find a place for the solenoid to hook up to my wiring harness..... any help is appreciated. thanks RYAN
thanks for your response havok.... i have a supertrap exhaust on the bike with the adjustable baffles..... i went out and pulled all but one of the baffles out of the exhaust and the bike runs 100 times better its really unbelievable... i guess it was choked as the jets were too big for the stock supertrap... so i still need to tune the carbs by getting them synched and all but it really is a relief the bike is running better ... thanks again havok
