another wont run problem!!!!!
Ok so, I bought a 96 cbr 600 f3 it has a 55 tooth rear sprocket a k&n air filter micron exaust and i think thats it preformance wise. now we had this bike running for about 3 months and in that time i had to get a new gas tank due to rust and had my carbs cleaned and jet and then i replaced the fuel filter. About 2 weeks after wards i was riding and it started puting and would die when i tried to give it gas and then just stoped. no weird sounds besides the puting it just stoped. we sold the bike and just got it back 3 days ago so it sat for 2 years without starting and we dont know what is wrong still. the bike has spark but someone suggested "Balanceing the bowls"?!?!? never herd of it but we are going to try. we keep thinking it is not getting fuel because when we sprayed it with ether it would run until it was out of ether and then die but me and my buddy are big car guys so we are not totaly versed in working on bikes let alone carbs so we are not entirely sure what could be wrong and im wondering not since a little fuel sat in that tank for 2 years if i need a new one now. please help me out and be gentle lol im learning.
I would suggest taking the tank off, draining the gas and clean anything non gas like in the tank. I doubt you'll need another tank. If its been sitting for two years... there's only oh so many things that could not make it start. One is fouled plugs due to the gas constantly leaking over them which eventually ruins them. Two is contaminates in your fuel which would not let it run and if it does run like ****. Three, your idle adjusting screw is way off adjustment (Turn it completely to the right and then turn it about 3 - 4 turns to the left and try starting it slowing adjusting it every time you try to start it). Four your petcock valve is messed up. Five your fuel pump isn't operating correctly.
If it does run when you spray ether, then its only your fuel pump, petcock, or the fuel itself.

fuel pump is what it sounds like when you said tried to give it gas and it died. try connecting gas from tank directly to fuel pump bypassing the fuel pump. and 2 year old gas cant be good.
OUTSTANDING! that is exactly the kinda of input i was looking for i didnt get any smart *** remarks or anything just straight to the pointinput thank you so much this forum rocks! it all makes sense now if the fuel pump went out when i was riding it would have just bogged down on me just like it did!
one other thing i forgot to mention we took the carbs off and when we did we found tree crap all in there i guese the people let it sit out side with the carbs off for a while so before we start it how do i clean out the combustion chamber one of the intake valves were open and im affraid some of the crap got in there any ideas on cleaning it out?
