Exclamation after market stator overcharging?

is it possible for an after market stator to do this to my r/r connections? the three yellow wires are all connected to the stator, right? i have the original but i put a new one in because when i went through my fault finding i thought it was the stator, turned out the be the r/r. anyways my second r/r is burned up now. is it possible that the r/r is getting to much juice and just melting?

just for reference.. the green circle is the connection that melted with the first r/r and the red circles are ones that melted with the second. also, the original stator was in when the first connection melted.

any help is much appreciated

thanks,

start the bike, check the voltage at the battery while running.... should be 13.5-14.5v... keep in mind that if it is over charging it can kill your battery

easier way yet is to connect it directly to the battery this'll eliminate the stator and your battery will still charge...

If the regulator is burning up it is very possible that the stator is putting out too much voltage for it to handle. Keep in mind that your regulator is essentially just a series of resisitors to bring the vhe voltage down to the corrrect level and diodes to convert the A/C current into D/C current to charge your battery. First test would be to test your stators output voltage as kerosene said. But as far as bypassing anything is just asking for false readings.

I probably should have stated this in the beginning but i did replace those connections. the bike starts and runs fine, but it only charges at about 12.25 when at 5k. which leads me to believe that the r/r is going bad but not entirely shot yet. and i know the stator works, since it charged around 14 - 14.5 (i think) when i put this r/r on a few months ago.

and how do i test the stator? i've measured the resistance between the yellow wires but i feel like i never get an accurate reading there. anyone have some more descriptive way to check the stator?

also, when i get a new one, do you guys recommend a gsxr or oem r/r? and if the gsxr, what year(s) work the best?

i appreciate the input, thanks
