hii all,

Got my 1st bike on Monday - CBR 600F 2003, lovely bike seems in good nick (altho im not a guru) all the chain and sprocket looked imaculate, forks looked good and it sounded alrite aswell. Just a few things i wanted advice on please, if any 1 can spare a minute or 2.

1) I got 2 keys and 2 key fobs, 1 doesnt work, i rang the dealer and they said more than likely its batteries so i went to a shop and he tested both the lil penny size batteries for me and said they both have full charge ?!?! so can some 1 explain how the batteries go in properly? and is there anythin i can look for damage wise? and if it is faulty (ive gt 3 months warranty) would it be covered under that?

2) when i turn the key and all the lights come on the revcounter goes uop come bk down etc ... the oil light flashes on and off ?? until i properly start it ? then it goes off?? is this right ?

3) lastly when ive given it a blast it seems to make almost like a sheering noise at about 6000RPM ?? is this right aswell? - they did service it for me before i took it aswell ??? its fot 32,000 miles on it.

Any advice and help would be excellent

Might be one of the fobs was dropped in water/broken? It is 8 years old, after all.

on the second issue, Yes, the speedo and tach, should run the scale and then
settle down.
The rest of the lights do a quick flash to show they are functional and then go out.
The oil light stays on until the engine is started and oil pressure comes up.

One note, if the side-stand is down, the bike will NOT start if it's not in neutral
(green light on). Unless the clutch is pulled in. This prevents it from jumping
forward, off the stand, when you go to start it.

As far as #3 on your list, you might have the Cam Chain Adjuster looked at,
the noise you are describing could be a loose cam-chain. Not a big deal, if attended to.

For the 3rd question, it could also be a blown crankshaft bearing.
