Default 98 F3 Problem.

Hey i just picked up a 1993 cbr 600 and i was told it needed a voltage regulator. I purchased one at the local shop and no luck.. All the fuses are fine. i checked the battery voltage and its around 7-8V but when i turn the key switch on it drops right to 4.5-4.7. if i put a jump starter on it it the fuel pump doesnt turn on but the starter breaker buzzes. It has a lot of wiring choped up. the headlight was hardwired into the fuse box and the signal switch and signals themselves are all removed too. The fuel pump isnt going on when the key is turned too. I know how to read wiring diagrams but the bike did run recently so i dont think it is a wiring problem. Thanks

The pre fuel injection bikes don't make a priming noise when the ignition switch is turned on. About the starter silinoid buzzing, I think you battery is absoulely DEAD. Your bike will not turn over with 7 - 8V in the battery. You might have a battery that is no longer any good and won't hold a charge under a load. Put it on a charger and charge until it reaches 13 volts. Depending on the amps going in, it should take about 1 to4 hours to charge. Get the battery tested, the CCA is 120. Another word of advice. If the battery is too low, these bikes won't run without assistance. To getit running orturn over (assuming no electrical issues), you'll need jump it with a car and keep the jumpers attached. Hopefully this is all you'll need.

It will need at least 11 volts to turn the motor with spark.8 voltsain't enough.Wal mart sells a motorcycle charger for 16 bucks.I've had mine for 7 years and it's awesome.
