Default 1997 cbr 600f3 won't start up

just put a new battery in it this week fired up and rode all week. let a friend's friend ride it some how it cut out on him. Called an hour later said he was stuck. can't get the main fuse apart to check it tried to pull it apart but scared it will break. Some say it's the battery again but I just bought the bat this week. it will start off a jump. Also now have some clear liqued leaking on the left side when it's running. Help please need to ride.........

Clear liquid? Water? You have coolant or water in your bike?

If it will start off of a jump then your battery is probably dead. Probably as a result of either a failing charging system or it's how you're riding it.

If I remember right, the F3's only begin charging at around 6K+ RPM's (more like 6500 I believe). And stops charging at around 9-10K RPM's. If you're constantly getting on it or putting around it can and will drain your battery.

Also, when your bike is idling, it will not charge. You are running off of the battery itself during idle and low speeds (>6K RPM's). I'm not sure what the procedure is on checking the charging system as I've never had to do it. It will be in the manual and if you don't have one already, get one here...

Something else to keep in mind; a bad rectifier will let your bike start and run when it's cold. Once it gets warm though, it will shut off and not start back up for about 10 minutes or until it has cooled. Don't know if that sounds at all like what you're experiencing but I thought I would throw that out there.

Good luck and let us know what you find. If there is one thing I hate it's when someone solves a problem and doesn't share!

The not starting unless being jumped is a classic sign of a dead battery. Take the battery out and put it on a charger. Make sure the charger is not putting too many amps at one time because it'll burn the battery up. Once the battery is charged, put it in the bike. With the bike off, take a voltage reading at the battery. It should read some thing in the range of 12.3 V to 13 V. Start the bike and rev it up to 5,000 rpm and maintain this engine speed. Take another voltage reading. It should read 13 V to 15.5 V. If the voltage reading is the same as the battery voltage, then your charging system has a failure some where (90% of the time it's a regulator/rectifier). There are several test that have to be done to determine exactly what has failed in the charging system, so don't run out and buy a R/R. Another thing, there are many R/R's available on eBay and they are cheap pieces of crap!! Make sure you get a Honda R/R!!
There are a few other things you'll need to look over in the charging system. The connector at the R/R itself, the connector where the stator connects into the bike harness, and the ground just below the R/R. Make sure the plastic connections have not melted and that your ground is still good.

Actually, it is a general understanding that if you're replacing an OEM r/r, then you would be best off installing a GSXR1000 rectifier in it's place.

thanks for the help think it might be the r/r because get it started and after about 10 mins. cuts out. didn't know that it would only charge after 6000. been cruising to much I guess.

That is true about using a GSXR R/R, but it takes modifications. The replacement from Honda has cool fins now. I've been running the newer R/R for a couple years now without any issue. It's just that some of those cheap R/R's from eBay are bad out of the box.
Where is the leak? If it is leaking from the pump, then you'll need to replace the pump. If it's coming from a hose connected to the pump, tighten the hose clamps up. I go through every once in a while and tighten all the coolant clamps up.

Think it might be only the gasket but might as well change the pump too. just got my bike a few weeks ago use to ride now back at it, love it. can't want to get it fixed thanks all
