Default 1996 f3

I am considering buying a 1996 f3. it has 30,000 miles, an after market exhaust and some body damage. the current owner says it was dropped once before he owned it. i had it checked out by one of the guys at the local motorsports shop and he said the engine sounds to be in good condition. the owner is asking 2,300. Are there any issues that i should be looking out for? any input would be appreciated.

I personally got a steal on my 96 F3. It was 18,xxx miles for 2200. But it had major damage to the fairings.

The bike is really strong, I'm crashed it at about 35-40 MPH. and the bike is still straight and ridable. I haven't had a problem with any kind of mechanical problems.

I do think that the honda have a problem with the cam chain tensioners, and possible the R/R but besides that I don't think there is any other problem.

The bikes are built strong, and you won't be bored with the bike. I say go for it.

Chain, battery, fork seals, brakesand tires are the outwardly visible thingsI check for. The chain links shouldn't zig-zag, the other items are pretty self explanatory.

2300 sounds decent for what it would bring around here....Offer him2100 and see what he says.

I think that some of that stuff is wear and tear. I think FOX3 was looking for specfic problems with the F3.Chians, Tires, and fork seals should be looked at but shouldn't affect the price too much. *

*This is my personally opinion, I'm very optimistic.

i got my 98 f3 with 35,xxx clean title . with alot of upgrades for $1,000. fairings and paint were in good shape. forks were fine. tires new. only needed the stator and battery replaced, along with new tags.and a new chain and sprockets. great deals are out there just be patient untill your certian youve found the right bike.

on a side note. my brother just picked up a 02 gsx-r 600 with alot of upgrades for 3500. the day before he bought this he was supposed to pick up a different 02 gsx-r 600 for 4k with no upgrades and some rash on the sides. the guy sold this the night before forcing my brother to find a different bike. and sure enough he found a WAY BETTER bike for less money .

like i said there're great deals out there just have to find them. try to remember that you dont need that bike so bad as to where you cant pass it up. if you dont get the deal you want walk away .
