I have done a couple other bikes over the years. 1978 GL1000 and here are a few pics of a 1973 Suzuki GT750 I brought back from the dead. Bought it and rebuilt it in 1988 and just sold last year. The pics were taken for the ad when I sold it.
WOW, that is a CRAZY BIKE! What did that one set you back? Also, I'm wondering where you found such a little gem? Did it run really fast? It looks amazing - is it two-stroke or four?
The Suzuki is a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke. It was the first water cooled production bike. I paid $100 for it and brought it home on it's side on a trailer. Me and a buddy stopped off at a car wash with a couple cans of engine degreaser to see what was under the crud. The motor had been seized when the owner ran the oil injector tank dry. I put about $600 into it to get it running and about another $500 to get it looking good with expansion chambers ($300) and a new seat I found at a dealer in 1997 for $100 plus other odds and ends. The paint was rattle can lacquer.Ll the work was done in the driveway and basement with the exception of getting the jugs bored at a machine shop.
Did you ever get around to post finished product pics I super curious and pumped to see it!!! But you did a hell of a job man!!! Please post up finshed product!!! I want to do this to my F3 over the winter but don't know. I know I'm painting it for sure!! Had to do so fiberglass work to my nose!!! There was nothing hold the headlight in after something got ripped up in my wheel and ripped all of the front out doing 90 on highway. My headlight hit the ground a flew faster than I was going. After 3 or 4 near misses by semis I ran out in the higjwYcsnd grabbed it!!! Glad I was atleadt able to save that!!!
Wish I took before pics!!! Was a pain to keep headlight in place long enough for me
To shape something out of nothing. Fiberglass resin is an amazing thing!!!
