Well, its pretty common knowledge. I have a friend of mine who takes his v-twin SV650 to the track all the time and is an amazing rider. He spends most of the day passing bigger better, badder bikes in the corners. The only hope the big bikes have is in straight aways. If you can ride good, anyone can be fast on a slower bike.

I have a 93f2 and I absolutely love it. Fender eliminater, no hugger, polished rims, cut down ss2r exhaust and totally flat black with no markings. I love old school and this thing spanks just about any other 600 through town and in the twisty's. Sure the new tech would be cool but I like to keep people guessing on why the got their a$$es whipped by a bike that is 13 years old!!!!! Minus 1/ plus 2 and a 520 conversion keeps the front wheel off the ground when I want to not to menton totall cost for the thing is still under 3 grand!

the SV650 is a VERY trackable bike...and will do exceptionally well even though it's not a track-bred bike...the vtwin gives it lots of advantage in certain areas of the track where it's powerband just rips...
my friend went from an F2 to an RR and now back to an F2. he wrecked his RR at the track (SN Yipperzz)...he can chime in with some details.

anyways, i don't mind staying with the f2 until other priorities in life happen. and once that's done i'm picking up another new one haha. but i'm planning to track this f2 for a long long time. or until it falls apart. whatever comes first.
