Congrats on the purchase. I'm looking to get the same bike this week myself. This one has black wheels, though. Those yellow wheels sure are BRIGHT! LOL.
Anyways, I'm glad I ran across this thread, cause the guy I'm talking to is asking $3K or best offer. I think I might try to make the same offer.
There's a funny thing about it, though. It has some device on the steering that is supposed to keep the handlebars from tank slapping? WTF is that? Have any of you heard of it? It's supposed to be adjustable so that it loosens or tightens the speed of the steering. Supposed to be useful when you hit like a pothole or something at speed. Supposed to keep the steering wheel from waggling from side to side up against the tank. Does that make sense?
The rear tire looks like it'll need changing before winter, too.

the dampener basically does what it says it dampens the movement of the handlebars with a sort of shock... so its definitly a plus and not something that you should be concerned about

Makes perfect sense... what he has put on is called a steering dampener and is definitly not a cheap add on, and is very useful. A tank slapper is essentially when the handlebars, and front wheel, start uncontrollaby going back and forth and can be caused by something like a pothole. Got my 93 F2 for $500 too, it had been dropped a time or two, missing a few bolts here and there, and didnt run due to carbs beinggunked up, but had it running pretty good within a few hours of bringing it home. This is what it looked like when I brought it home:

After it was in my possesion about48 hours:

Then I laid it over in the back of my truck loading it up atthe dragstrip and put a couple of cracks in the glass 1 piece front fairing, so at the moment its naked, shaving the turn signal scoops, repairing the cracks and doing a complete repaint. This is what it looks like at the moment:

For about a $1000 total investment, Im very happy with it, goes mid 11s at the track, smokes ever other 600 Ive raced so far, and a few bigger bikes as well, and takes me back and forth to work everyday to boot. [8D]

IMO, its not THE BEST beginners bike, power wise, but it is totally manageable if you have a good head on your shoulders.
a 250 is just garbage to start on, I personally think a 500 is ideal. but the F2 CBR is a very well built machine and very reliable bike if you take care of it right.
