Default Voltage Regulator???

Leaving work, I went out into the parking lot and hopped on my bike to find no lights or anything working when I turned the key. I took the seat off and tightened down the battery connectors. The starter sounded too weak to start the bike so I roll started it. On my way down the road my bike suddenly acted like it was out of gas. It had only been 100 miles since my last fill up but I switched to reserve anyway. I finally roll to a stop and the engine runs fine in idle but when I roll on the throttle it flutters rising and dropping in rpm's. I take the seat off and tighten the battery connectors the throttle came back but then died shortly afterward. Any help would be great!!!

the regulator rectifier is part of the charging system and could cause problems with starting. but your stator should power your bike while its on.. while it runs it begins to bog, but while it sits it idles fine. sounds like a fuel line issue to me.like without burning too much off it fills the float bowls and runs like normal. but the second you begin to burn more fuel you run low on fuel in the carbs. check your petcock and fuel lines for pinches or kinks might be a simple fix. I had bad electrical issues and replaced the r/r and it fixed all problems. but I never had a running issue. just an ocasional dead battery and jumpstart here and there.
