Default vibrations!!!

So my bike vibrates. alot.

What's causing this? i know that the carbs are due for a tune up, the bike smells like it's running rich.

Default RE: vibrations!!!

Could be anything from carbs, steering head bearings, wheel bearings, swinging arm bushes, Tyre pressures, tyre balence
the list is endless without being more specific, could even be a flat spot on one tyre

It's definitely tied to rpms and the engine.

Would the CCT have that great of an effect on its own? or is it because the timing is off and that's causing the vibes?

i'm sure this bike needs a major tune up

if timing is off it will be running VERY badly.
it may be starving for fuel if you haven't cleaned the carbs or it may be running rich, so like stalling out the bike with too much fuel, hence the vibration and the smell...

Have you tested it for a missfire?

The bike runs ok so i think the timing isn't off and it doesn't sound like it's misfiring but i haven't tested for a misfire.

I think i'll start by giving the carbs some TLC and report back if the situation improves.

thanks guys!

How long has the problem been occurring? If it just started, then I highly doubt the engine just magically jumped time. More than likely the carbs need synching or even cleaned (could have gotten some crud in one of the jets and its not letting enough fuel in one or more cylinders). Does the idle fluctuate or is it steady?

what can cause this sometimes is if your gatank is resting directly on your frame, tank your gastank off anbd what i did i put some weather stripping ontop of the drame were the tank sits and that stopped my vibration.
