transmission
has anyone ever broke apart a tranmission on a f2 mine seems to be hard shifting its got some miles on it but i was wondering if it was a pain or if it just easier to find another one on ebay
Can you be more specific re: hard shifting? Does this mean; it's hard to upshift into the next gear? Is it the same in all gears? Does it ever pop out of gear? Same issue downshifting? Has the bike been modified ie: shift kit - rearsets? Depending on the exact shifting issue: the first thing I would check is the clutch cable adjustment, then the clutch itself (does it slip under hard accel?). If it is a shift fork/drum problem, the motor has to come out and the cases 'split'. After that, the entire transmission assembly is exposed. From there you just replace the parts that are worn. Keep in mind at that point, you are into it many, many hours. It is probably not the best job to undertake unless you are very confident in your mechanical abilitlies. That being said, with a proper manual, taking your time, and some advise/inspection from someone w/experience, it could be done at home. In other words, sourcing the parts is going to be the easy part!
