#$%^ (transmission)
I'm a student, I travel about 300-350 miles a week on my bike.. Today coming home something happened that I was very unfamiliar with. The bike sorta slipped while accelerating. 4th-5th ish. I'm actually uncertain what gear I was in when this happened, but my heart sank as I pulled in the clutch and I was relieved when it still had throttle response 'n such. Still though in the back of my mind I was just like, "#$%^, #$%^, #$%^, #$%^" Continuing home it happened once more while accelerating. At this point in my life I started to think about what it could of been. I am 100% sure it's not the clutch. So I was left pondering the possibilities as I was dodging road kill (Very rural drive).... No matter how much I wanted to ignore it, the only thing I could come up was transmission issues. Through searching around on here I've concluded that the "dogs" are worn. Any advice with this would be fantastic, I've priced a bit on Ebay and it appeared I could get what I need for roughly $100-125... ADVICE ME NOW! Whoop, everyone have a great day.. Oh and thanks! (Mileage: 28,832ish)
Keep in mind you have to replace both the window and dog gear or you're wasting your money. It's pretty unusual to have that much wear on the dogs of either 4th or 5th. 1st and 2nd are the usual culprits. 1st through 4th are on one shaft with 2 forks and 5th/6th are on other shaft with 1 fork.
The dogs would have to be worn really bad to jump while just cruising down the road. They normally start out jumping during a gear change. Can you describe what it's doing in more detail?

Brand new clutches and springs. Replaced 'em about 2k miles ago if that. Uhmm can't really describe it too much more because it happened so quickly. In all honesty I think it happened as I was just entering fourth gear.. :/// Bleq.. I don't want to push the bike and try to recreate the feeling 'n such, but I don't want to just ignore it either.
