Throttle Cable Slack

The adjustment is on the carburetors where the cables are attached.
There are 2 nuts per cable, an adjuster and a lock nut. The end of the cable housing is threaded, so that as you back the cable away from the adjusting nut it will take out slack.
There should be some play in the cable, just enough to keep the throttle from being held on.
It's not the easiest thing to explain without drawing up diagrams, but once you pull the gas tank and airbox off and see where the cables attach it will make sense to you.

No, just turn off the fuel valve.
To remove the tank you'll need to remove the tail plastics and your seat. The tank is held on by 2 bolts, one at the front and one at the rear of the tank.
Be sure to turn the petcock to OFF, and remove the hoses that are attached on the underside of the tank. DO NOT forget to put the hoses back on (there are 2 of them) where they came off.
Many people forget to attach the small vacuum line back to the petcock and the bike will not run.
There are 2 vent hoses attached to the tank that just hang down and do not attach to anything else, you can leave those hoses attached to the tank.
