Default Starting problem

I have a starting problem that I hope someone can guide me in the right direction.
When I turn the bike on and push the start button nothing happens.
well I shouldn't say nothing, the headlight seems to completely dim out.
Other than that no clicks, no movement, no nothing.
I need some help to figure out what is wrong.

Sounds like a weak battery...Try to push start it and see what happens. Could also be the regulator/rectifier going out and not charging the system...

That sounds right.. the headlight has a relay in it . so to protect what little voltage is there.. to help it start... but u should be getting something.. try pushing/running up till say 10mph if possible then drop into 2nd gear.. 1st gear will have alota recoil as it pulls the engine running.

I have tried to jump start it and when I do the bike idles funny and when I took it around the block it just died on me when I was pulling up toa stop.

I checked my battery voltage and it is lower than full charge but not low by any means.

I just changed my R/R about a month ago with one off ebay that has cooling fins on it.

I don't know what to do but I am getting really pissed because the season is starting to end and I can't even finish riding it.

Weak battery for sure. Make sure it is completely charged and then see how it cranks the bike. If it gets charged, puts out 12v and still cranks the bike slow, you have a bad battery.

Are you sure mike, it seems kinda hard to believe that my battery is bad.
Its not like the bike turns over slow, it doesn't turn over at all when I hit the start button (actually nothing happens).

Plus I just bought the battery brand new this season.

I will charge my battery and see if anything happens but I think if my battery is bad something wrong
with my bike made it bad because the battery is practicallybrand new.

Can someone help me figure out how to tell if my starter motor is bad?

Does the headlight dim when you go to start it normally? or only with a weak battery?

Sounds like the battery to me. It'll run like crap for a while after you push start it until the battery is charged sufficiantly. Somehow the batterymust have gotten discharged completely. Happens sometimes to me when I use the kill switch and then don't turn off the key ...duh!!!! Charge the battery up and see what you get. Mine's worked fine ever since.

Disconnect the battery, hook up jumper cables to a car batterry and see if it will turn over.
