Well, if it's been overheated to many times, then its probably going to die. So if you catch it early or put it on when you install a new one, then you should be just fine. Just saying it's better than doing nothing or waiting until the bike doesn't run. And it's sooo easy to do.
Putting an R1 or gsxr one works too, just more money & work.
My stock reg/rec was been working just fine for the last 143,000 miles.
