shims and valve lifters
hi i got horible sounds coming from my engine, i had to replace the head engine gasket , though the process i turn up side down the head engine an then the valve caps and shims came out of their original positions, i put the hole bike together and that rattle sound apear i know is becausei set the valve caps and shims in wrongpositions can any one tell me how to fix this situation ? theres any way to know the original positions of the shims and valve covers? any help will be preciated tanx

Bad CCT? I don't know if you took the cams out or not, but you may have to readjust your CCT if it's manual or if it's the stock hydrualic one, you might have to recharge it our whatever they call the process (see the service manual). I believe 90% of the folks here would recommend replacing the automatic one with the manual.

Well, I can tell you probably have some serious valve tap since you do not have the shims in the correct place. The valve caps do not matter. You need to get a manual and a gauge tool. Basically you are having to re-shim all the valves, not going to be fun, each valve is shimed different. The manual will tell you what yourvalves should be set at. You are going to look in the manual for valve adjustment.
Also, make sure your valve keepers are in place, with out them the valves will slap against the pistons. Carefull you can bend the valves if your shims or keepersare off or missing.
