Regulator Rectifier help
Okay so I was riding home from school when all the sudden my bike shuts off. Hours later after pushing it home I check all fuses and find that the main 30a fuse is blown. I run up to auto zone get another put it in start it up and my regulator/rectifier starts smoking like crazy. Obviously it's bad now but should
I check anything else first before buying a new one. What could of caused it to blow?

Well to me it definitely sounds like a R/R issue. The bike shutting off complete and the blown battery definitely indicates that you R/R isn't doing its job. Had a similar issue on my bike a year or so back. R/R went out burned right through brand new battery replaced the battery and looked at my regulator and there was a hole burnt right down the center. But since I believe that it's the regulator can't really give you any more advice at this point but give it till tomorrow I'm sure someone else will give you some detailed steps. Hope everything works out bro and if you do end up getting a new one I'd get the new Honda finned r/r I haven't had a problem with it since.

Test your stator and check your wiring/connector. If the stator or a wire is shorted, you will burn up the new regulator instantly.
Check to make sure that the stator pins have continuity to each other, but not to ground. Make sure the wires and connector aren't burned. A burned connector is common...
