Rear sproket

Rear sproket
Hi, I just got my tires changed yesterday. I went to put my rear wheel back on and as i was getting ready to torque the axel, i noticed there was some play from side to side with not the sprocket, but the part the sproket bolts onto. After i torqued it down, it wasn't as bad. I was just wondering if this is normal, if not, what do i need to do to fix it.

RE: Rear sproket
if your talking about right under the sprocket....yes thats normal. it's called the cush drive. you know when you put your bike in gear and it jerks forward just a bit. well that is the final drive engaging (final drive=from the tranny countershaft to back wheel). so there are little rubber cushions in between the wheel and the sprocket to keep from destroying your wheel. can any one else say it better i dont know if the way i worded that is understandable
