how much did it raise your seat height? i was told that the F4i shock would put on about 1.5-2 inches in ride height. so it is possible to lower the seat height once installed without a lowering linkage? I have a '95 F3 and i just ordered my '03 F4i shock for the swap.

The shock hose should come out the top and the reservior attaches to the frame. The preload adjuster should be at the bottom so you can get to it with the tools.

When I put my F4 shock on a month ago I supported the bike with a jack at the middle but because the center stand had been removed I used a few blocks of wood to hold everythg steady. The new shock was longer so I had to keep jacking up the bike until the holes lined up for the bolts. I was able to do it one person, but the bike nearly tipped over a few times. I would say two people and it will take a few minutes tops.

Oh, and if you have the rear brake hose attached to the frame, check to see that it isn't being pulled by a tie straps. The bike sits higher and put pulling force on the hose if you have it tied in place. Found that one out really quick luckily.
