Default Rear shock preload question

Dumb question, but since I can't get close enough to see clearly I need to figure out which way to turn the adjuster to LESSEN the preload. Right now I think it is at #7 which seems too stiff. I recently changed from an F2 shck to an F4 shock and found out that the F4 has a lot more adjustment and the spring seems stiffer. I am looking at the shock from the rear of the bike, so I need to know clockwise or counterclockwise to lessen.

Maybe I'm just having so much trouble because the grime is keeping it kind of frozen in place. I can move it in either direction a tiny bit but it stops soon after regardless which direction I try.

If its an F4 shock I would ask them because I don't even have a dampener for my shock.

No, not the air reservoir. At the bottom of the spring there is an adjuster that you turn to adjust the preload on the spring. It was the same design as the original F2 I pulled off, but it's sitting in my cycle bin at a storage site right now.

Posting in the F4 forum is great idea though. (smacks head)
