Rear brake question
OK, I hope I can describe this part as I have no idea where it goes.
I was removing the rear wheel last night to replace the tire, chain, sprockets and brake pads. I managed to loosen the caliper up before removing the rear wheel, but when I started pulling the rear wheel and the caliper bracket, some sort of clip fell out. This is not the clip that goes behind the axle nut. It looks almost like it should hold the brake pads on or in place, but the clip shown in the manual for the pads is still up in the top of the caliper. The clip is somewhat square, is as thin as the pad clip at the top of the caliper, and it has several tabe bent on it. In fact, when I tried to fit it against items such as the pads or the caliper, it almost clipped in to the other clip in the caliper. If I need to I will get a picture, but I need help as I have to put this back together after work tonight. As I said, the service manual I have does not show this clip, only the one that fits the top of the pads that fits in the caliper underside.

RE: Rear brake question

RE: Rear brake question
Man, thanks a million. It is #10. #8 is still sitting in the caliper and I couldn't figure out where that other part fell from. I can tell I'm going to have a lot of fun trying to hold that damn clip in place with the pads while trying to re-install.
BTW, do you guys just use a c-clamp to force the piston back in? (they way one would with a car caliper?)
