not good practice dave, close the choke back down when bike is warmed up, if your idle is low, adjust it with the idle **** by your left knee. clutchless upshifts, ok. downshift shouldnt even be possible with a trany in good shape.but dont make it a habit with the upshifts. these bikes are .....delicate, after 15 ish years... you dont want to help anything wear out any faster than it already does.

thank you for the reply undercoverbrother ya the reson i keep the choke on is because i meesed with the idel screw and it revs too low and i wanna keep it from stalling i like it under 2k rmp because if it's not their i stall while taking off.ya my bike lets me down shift and upshift with out pulling the clutch i'm new at riding so i didint know if that was normal or not.you say it's not so i guess i'll stop
thanks

1500 is ideal idle. also dont be afraid to take the bike apart. first, knowledge is power. get the book, get info from everywhere you can. and also put things back exactly how they were. if you take off the tank and remove the air box (top and bottom) you should be able to see the terminating end of that idle screw and guide it back into place.
