Default Possible Clutch problem.. help!!

Hey guys, problem happened this morning while I was riding. I was in 3rd gear coming up to a red light. I pulled in the clutch handle to gear down, put it into 2nd, but before I let go of the clutch handle the bike all of the sudden jerks foward and bam! its back into gear while the clutch handle is pulled in. Wierd I think to myself.. the bike then stalled out at the red light because I couldnt get it into neutral without a clutch.

I pulled it off onto the sidewalk and looked down, operating the handle i could see the cable moving the clutch actuator on the side of the motor, but it wasn't actually engaging the clutch. I got the bike trailered home and pulled the fairings off. I poked at the cable and it was shearing itself down by the actuator, and as I operated it again, the cable actually broke up by the handle. Fair enough I think, I will just replace the cable, so I pulled the old one off, but even now with no cable, I try to operate the actuator by hand and im putting a fair amount of force into it.. still no dice, the bike is not engaging. I took the clutch cover off and checked, there is a little pusher dealio that pushes into this plate with springs on it (hard to explain I guess). Anyways, its pushing okay with decent force and springs back fine. So either A. the plate is siezed or B. I don't have the strength by hand to operate it. Is that plate with the 4 springs behind it moveable by hand? how do I know what the problem is? I don't see any broken parts or anything.. . Im just confused.

Default RE: Possible Clutch problem.. help!!

To illustrate with pictures.. the first picture shows the actuator, the little nub, (part #8) moves in and out without problems.

In the 2nd pic, there is that center plate with 4 bolts on it. It looks like the actuator is supposed to move in and out and push on the center circle of this plate, is this plate supposed to be easy to move or near impossible? I just want to know if this is a cable problem or a siezed, fubar'd tranny problem..
