did not feel like making a new thread, for myself...

so the other night noticed my speedo/odo stopped working. pulled the cable at the speedo noticed it was not turning. Pulled the other end and the output on the wheel does turn.

not sure what it should look like but this does not seem right to me on the cable(hub end) with that little metal piece in there it cant work so is it supposed to be there or did it break off the output gear in the hub? or...?

that tab broke off the output gear in the hub.

Make sure the cable spins freely in the housing, and that it wasn't binding.
Unfortunately, I think that part is considered part of the housing according to bikebandit - and has a pretty healthy replacement cost of about $90. About $40 used on ebay.

I bet you can find someone parting a bike out around here that will sell you one a lot cheaper.

that sux. hope you fix it cheaper than 90.

but if thats what the f2 hub looks like then what the heck wheel is on mine? F3?

Yep - you have a F3 front wheel - you can quickly tell cause of the way the brake rotors look. I think you probably have a F3 fork in yours too if you have the adjusters for both preload and rebound on the top cap.

signs that somewhere down the road someone did, or had to do, a new front end on the bike.
