Sounds like a regulator rectifier problem...try this; get your bike running again with the seat off ( try jump starting it with ANOTHER BIKE, not a car) put a volt meter on the battery connections and see if your bike has approx 12 volts while running....rev it up to around 5000 rpm and the voltage should go up to about 13.5 ( with the low beam on) or higher if you have the high beam on. If not, your charging system isnt working.
There are two components to your charging system, a regulator rectifier and a stator. Both are available aftermarket.
Parts Unlimited ( which any motorcycle shop should be set up with or they are commiting suicide without them!!!) has both listed.
The regulator/rectifier ( part#10-106) $119.95
Stator assym ( part# 21-109) $139.95

Let us know if this is your problem.
It is a common problem and there really isnt any test to perform on the regulator. It will work or it wont.
And if the battery wasnt charged before you installed it, it could of only had a "static" or surface charge and will only have a fraction of it true potential.
You stated that you put the battery in last night, and I am figuring you rode it. The headlight draws alot of power and if your charging system is not working it would not take long for the bike to drain the power.

YOU must be careful when jumping it with a car, the regulator rectifier is not made for that much juice and you can fry it...

If the regulator rectifier fails, it is easy to replace, but it is not fixable; only replaceable. Either it will work or it wont. ( the regulator rectifier is part of your charging system and if you keep having your battery die; this is a common problem....) To replace it, just remove the tail section/side panel and it is on a metal plate bolted to the subframe

regulator rectifier is the correct answer hondas are known for countless rectifiers going bad but get it replaced before it frys and melts the wires. i had the exact same problem,it was a quick fix
its located on the right side near passenger rear sets.
