Lightbulb New Rider, new bike, new questions

Hello all,

Ive just got my license and i bought a 1993 CBR 600, im a big honda fan and my dad is a big carburetor fan, so we settled on getting the F2 CBR

Now ive raced, modded and rebuilt cars, but bikes are quite foreign to me. I can do all the maintanance with my dad since he is a mechanic by trade. But im looking around to get some recommendations. In other threads ive seen that a lot of people opt to swap out parts to the F3 equivalents, like rear tires and fork internals. Is this recommended? or necassary?

Im going to pull the bike out of storage and ride it hot once before checking the bike over. Im aware of checking the suspension specifically and also the valves. Apart from the obvious (tires/brakes/carbs) is there any specific things to keep a look out for on a bike?

Hopefully this post is correct, im not too familiar with forums etc. So excuses if i messed it up

Welcome to the forum Barteng, probably the big thing to look out for is if the carbs needs stripping down and cleaning. They probably will if it has been sitting for some time.
What is puzzling me is that you have said it is a 1993 F2 but the fairing is definitely one from an F3 and the tail section from an F2.
The give away is that the F2 has integrated indicators and a sculptures recess for the ram air not the scoops at the front of the fairing.
The paint job and fit looks very well done and matches pretty well but looking closely the red and yellows seem slight different from front to back.
Do you have any other info on the bike from the previous owner?
Cheers
Al

I didn't know about that haha! The previous owner did some track stuff on it and kept it in seriously good condition, it's an old friend of my dad.

As far as I was concerned only the exhaust was done, but i might have to go ask some more questions haha!

The paperwork says 1993 and it's an European model

I'm about 95% sure that is either a 95 or 96 F3. They used the same tail section as F2's.
I'd be checking the paperwork against the VIN number on the bike, cause something is not right.

Post a pic of the shift linkage on the other side of the bike.

As for swapping part, I'd skip that. The only mod worth considering at this point is a manual CCT.
Since you are new to bike, you should focus on:
1. Full gear
2. Training - Riding classes
3. Have fun, but don't be dumb.

Yes, I sound like an old man, because I am. But I'm still here because of the above 3.

@Barteng I agree, that looks like a 1995 based on color scheme. Check the VIN, or post it here.
