Default Need Help

I was riding my 1991 CBR 600F2 tonight and came to a stop. After coming to a stop the bike started smoking (I believe the smoke was white, it was dark outside, not 100%). On top of the bike smoking, it shut off. I then pulled the bike over to the side of the road and it smelled like burning rubber, but there was no longer smoke. I then tried to turn the bike back on and there was no power what so ever, no lights and wouldn't start.

Does anyone know what this might be, I just bought the bike and got it inspected about 3 weeks ago and have ridden it for maybe a total of 20 hrs. All the fluids as far as I was told have been changed, and I even checked the oil several times.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, or any other errors, I am also new to the forums.

~Thanks.

My guess is something electrical since the bike had no power afterwords.
First thing to check is the reg/rec. It's a common failure on these bike and can kill power if it short or kill your battery. It's under the right side rear tail section.
Also check your battery, a bad reg/rec can fry a battery.
Finally make sure there aren't any wires hanging down that could have touched the exhaust, melt them and short out.
This would most likely blow a fuse, so check them too. There are 4 up by the right handle bar. But there are also 1 or 2 back by the battery in the electrical junction box thing.

Thanks so much for replying, I rolled it to a mechanics shop that luckily worked on bikes and came back the next day to check the bike out with them, sure enough the voltage regulator completely melted. He told me that sometimes they fry to bad wiring or overloading the bike.
Again thanks so much, if there is more problems Ill keep your post in mind.

If it's the original honda oem reg/rec, it's just a matter of time before they fail.
Honda updated the reg/rec with an entirely new unit and new part number. The new ones work great.

Yeah I just ordered a aftermarket one with the same part number, is there a different one you recommend or should it be fine. And I'm not quite sure what parts were replaced over the years, but it looked fairly old (from what wasn't melted).

Almost all aftermarket one are junk and cheaply made. Problem is if they go, they can take other stuff out too, battery, wiring harness, etc.
I've replaced more than a dozen reg/rec on F2's over the years.
I always use the new OEM one from honda and I've never had another reg/rec problem or fried battery after doing it.

Here's a thread where I posted a pic and part number for the new one.

Thanks so much man, you saved me from a lot of trouble, I just returned the #31600-MV4-000 and ordered a #31600-MV4-010 REG. I can't thank you enough.
