I don't know where you're from, but in Kansas, they would look at the guy in the middle of your deal as someone who has failed to pay registration and property taxes - they would tell you that the guy you're buying it from, must first register the bike, and pay property tax, and then wait to receive the title in the mail with HIS name on it, before he can thensell it to you "properly".

the most you may have to to is swap it in his name then back to yours.. atleast in n.j.thats how its done...good luck

In Louisiana, if the first seller did sign the title over to the guy you're buying from, and he never registered it in his name, you'd both have to go to the DMV and do a double title transfer. You'd pay for 2 title transfers. (I'd make the seller pay his share unless it is a dealbreaker.)

If the original title was never signed over and notarized or whatever the requirement is in your state, things get trickier.

I've contacted the person on the title and things should go smoothly. I had the bike delivered yesterday. Got it for $1600! The battery died on me earlier today so I went out and bought a new one. Glad it was nothing major.

Let's see some pics of your new ride (the craigslist add is gone) !!!! Congrats on the new ride by the way!

Warning.... dead battery could be dead because it isn't charging properly (common problem with R/R on CBR F2) not expensive and not hard to fix.

Just thought I would alert you to the possibility so you can test it (see link below for how to) so you don't get stuck somewhere with another dead battery.

You found the right place for support...enjoy your purchase. BTW: regarding 18yo bike not worth a certain amount of money? This is BS...bike is worth every penny of what the seller wants to sell & buyers want to buy....this is how we value pre-owned property.

Ride safe...
