Default Leaving the gas on?

Simple ? Is there any downfalls of accidently leaving your gas switch in the ON position??

No... Only if you accidently leave it on the Reserve.

Cause you'll forget and run out of gas

+1 Then youll end up pushing it for about 2miles to an exit where the next gas station is at. And our bikes are still fairly heavy when your pushing them forever. haha

When I first got my bike I used to turn it off whenever I parked it. It just seemed like the thing to do. I mean, why would they have an "off" position if you weren't supposed to use it, right? The problem was that half the time I started the bike up, I would forget about turning it "on" again and it would die as soon as the float bowls emptied. I got tired of that and just started leaving the petcock in the "on" position all of the time. I've done that for the past 12 years and have had no problems as of yet.

if its going to be unridden for awhile i would turn it off. if its going to be started again within 3 or four days i would just leave it on.

Thanks errbody. I thought so, I have the same thing on my jetski which I always turn off. Just the other day when I started it it seemed to start off a little weak. The bike that is. But I guess thats what you get with 25 degree weather.
